Gainsborough Crematorium update/October 08 2019

Phoenix Drywall continue to strive & deliver in partnership with our valued supply chain. Gainsborough Crematorium has been a perfect example of our philosophy to deliver quality finishes whilst working closely with our customers through tender & constructions phases. What started as a simple Masonry & SFS package for PG to procure, we extended our services to the Internal Drywall & Ceiling package.

From tender issue specification & developing construction drawings received it became clear that the M/C & Architect required support from our experienced Drywall team. Starting with British Gypsum specification changes to achieve actual build heights, Fire & Acoustic DB Ratings to achieve requirements set-out, PG value engineered alongside Technical Specification Managers & Architect to achieve these all within budget.

A ’Folded Crease’ effect ceiling had been presented to the Client at pre-tender stage, understandably the Client was keen to keep this bespoke piece of design within the scheme. Unfortunately for the M/C, no specification on ‘buildability’ was given to deliver on what was now high Client expectations.

Standard ‘Casoline Metal Framed’ system used in this area would have been beyond its capabilities, and would have required reduced radius under construction ultimately retracting from the overall effect desired.

Our experienced team suggested a system rarely used in this way in the U.K (commonly found in the States), again with support from a Specialist Technical Advisor (Martin Dalby) from Armstrong World Industries attending various Design Meetings with PG & relevant stakeholders.

A system was designed, agreed, procured & delivered ontime and within budget by Phoenix Drywall.
